Podcasts, Concerts, and Performances

Our concerts are held twice yearly and feature all the students in our program, from beginning classes through the Albany Youth Orchestra ensembles. Concerts are free and open to the public.  

We are so fortunate to be able to showcase the musical skills of our students to help us raise money, support our charity partners, and gain valuable performance experience, instead of having to sell items door-to-door. Summer Orchestra Classes Concert

Downtown Twice Around Parade

December 5, 2021. Students and their families marched the AYO banner in Albany's big holiday parade carrying decorated and lighted instrument cutouts on signs.

November 28, 2018. AYO Junior Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra and intermediate classes performed Christmas music for the Celebration of Trees fundraiser for BCGA.

Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire

September 8-9, 2018. AYO Chamber Orchestra players, joined by adult players, performed 7 sets of authentic Renaissance music as the group "Our Queen's Delight," and busked in the village streets to raise money for our programs.

Summer Pops Concerts in the Park

August 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015. The summer classes played on stage at Monteith Park in Albany, opening the concert. This was followed by a full-orchestra pops concert including AYO musicians, local band students, and members of the Albany String Orchestra and New Horizons Willamette Valley Orchestra. 2018 was our largest orchestra yet, with 59 players taking stage.

Midsummer Arts

August 4, 2018. Students from our summer classes performed for the Midsummer Arts festival in Monteith Park.

Pioneer Living History Festival

June 23, 2018. Students from intermediate classes performed old-time fiddle tunes at this educational event at the Camas Mill Schoolhouse in Junction City, OR.

April 9, 2016. The Albany Youth Orchestra performed selections from past and upcoming concerts. The South Shore Elementary beginning class performed as well.

Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire, Kings Valley

September 2013-2016. MVPS musicians performed authentic Renaissance music ... in costume! In addition to a booth at the faire and four programmed performances, the musicians busked in the streets of the faire to earn money for our scholarship fund! http://shrewfaire.com

April 18, 2015. A quintet of musicians from the Albany Youth Orchestra performed a Mozart string quintet for this fundraiser for the Albany Public Schools Foundation.

Library Uncorked! Albany Public Library

February 7, 2015. Students from our beginning and intermediate elementary strings classes performed, followed by chamber music played by members of the Albany Youth Orchestra.

Grand Budapest Hotel Dinner, Sybaris Bistro

A trio of AYO musicians perfomed Vivaldi music from the movie "Grand Budapest Hotel"  for this special event dinner on Oct. 26, 2014.

Mondays at Monteith, Albany

July 21, 2014. AYO string quartet performed before the concert. MVPS served chicken dinners (with absolutely fabulous chicken prepared by Matt Bennett of Sybaris Bistro!) as a fundraiser for the program.

Library Uncorked! Albany

February 8, 2014. Albany Youth Orchestra and students from intermediate classes performed at a benefit wine tasting and art auction for the Friends of Albany Public Library.

Family Tree Relief Nursery Holiday Party, Albany

December 21, 2013. MVPS quartet performed holiday music for the families and staff of FTRN.

Albany Town & Country Christmas Bazaar, Albany

December 7, 2013. MVPS school classes and AYO performed holiday music for shoppers to benefit Family Tree Relief Nursery of Albany.

Antiques in the Streets, Albany

September 7, 2013. Pancake breakfast fundraiser in downtown Albany. Another very successful fundraiser, complete with performances from many of our students!

• The South Shore Beginner 2 class and the Albany Youth Orchestra quartet (Musica Col Legno) performed for Central Elementary School's Art Auction on April 15th, 2013 at Sybaris Bistro in downtown Albany. What a wonderful venue for our performers!
• The classes performed for the Albany Christmas Parlour Tour event at Whitespires Church in December 2011, 2012, and 2013. This was not a fundraiser, but an opportunity to hone our performance skills in a public setting.
• The pancake breakfast fundraisers at Antiques in the Streets on September 8, 2012 and September 7, 2013 were very successful.
  

These events help fund scholarships, additional class locations, and sheet music. Thanks for your support of Albany's budding musicians!
