Executive Director of Finance

Madison Peters is from Flagstaff, Arizona and moved to Albany in July 2024. She has been playing music since she was 4 years old, starting on the violin and then learning anything with strings on it. She has been teaching private lessons and ensembles for almost 10 years and finds particular joy in helping students discover their love of music. With over seven years of experience in the corporate finance industry, she has joined our team as a co-Executive Director, focusing on the organization’s finances and long-term goals. When not working or playing music, Madison enjoys reading and exploring the outdoors with her partner.

Executive Director of Development

Tye Vossler-Shipp has been an Albany resident since 2018. Upon completing her Master of Arts in Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies, Tye joined our organization as an independent grant writer. Tye participated in music education as an elementary and middle school student, focusing primarily on the piano and clarinet, while also dabbling with other wind instruments and percussion. She is passionate about orchestra education for Albany youth, and dedicated to finding funding opportunities to support AYO. Tye lives in Albany with her husband Brian, and two children, Alayna and Ari, and their two cats Neelix and Rainbow.

“Music has been a vital part of my life since I can remember. I have always wanted to learn to play the violin, so when the opportunity to work with AYO came my way, I jumped. Now I can fulfill a lifelong dream, while also engaging in community outreach for the arts. I look forward to the day when orchestra education is included in public school music education.”

Tye also serves on the Albany Youth Orchestra board on several committees.

What we DO!

Madison and Tye share the Executive Director position at AYO. Together, they make sure that our program is the best that it can be!

Madison focuses on the finances and day-to-day of AYO. She creates and manages the budgets and makes sure that everyone gets paid on time! Additionally, as she is also one of AYO's teachers, she is the primary contact for teachers. Madison creates the class schedules and sends out the invoices to families that are enrolled. If you have any questions about AYO's finances, your invoices/account, or any other day-to-day logistics, Madison is the one to call!

Tye is the spearhead of all fundraising, development, and the one who is out in the world creating relationships with our donors. She meets with sponsors, donors, and community members to see how AYO can support Albany and the surrounding towns. Tye is also the main contact for other organizations looking to partner with us for performances and events. If you are interested in the ways that you can support AYO and help us thrive, reach out to Tye to see what we need!
