We are offering in-person group classes and one-on-one lessons in partnership with Greater Albany Public Schools' Think Big Summer program. Classes will be held in the Timber Ridge School band room. There are options for students at all levels, from kids who have no experience and want to try an instrument, to orchestra groups with music for the most advanced. All classes are FREE and instruments are included. GAPS will provide transportation and meals. Home and private school students are welcome join our classes if they live in the GAPS school district. Students may sign up for as many classes as they want, and you don't have to attend every single day to participate! Hey, it's summer and we love knowing that our students and families are out there on camping trips and family vacations. Space available on first come basis and you must register before to attend a class.
Four-day introductory violin and cello classes for the absolute beginner. Grades 3-12. Instruments provided. No music experience required.
For any student who has ever taken Level 1 or Beginner level in any program. Review basic techniques and play beginning orchestra music. Ten sessions over five weeks.
Every week, a different theme. Four-day classes in Disney, fiddle, pop songs, the US national anthem, and cello-rama. Prerequisite: Level 1. Each class includes more challenging music for more advanced players.
Get that big orchestra sound! Multi-level pieces that will challenge players of many levels. For violins, violas, cellos, and basses. Prerequisite: Level 2. No audition. Ten sessions over five weeks.
Get individual lessons with a teacher. For students at any level on any instrument. 15-minute slots are available Mondays through Thursdays during the summer term.
These intro classes are for students grades 3 and above who have never played one of these instruments and would like to try it out. Classes are held for one hour each day for four days (Monday through Thursday) each week. You will learn the basics of how to hold the instrument and the bow and play a simple song. Instruments are provided in class.
All classes are 11:00-11:55am. Each week is a different instrument and grade level.

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00-9:55am
July 13 to August 12 (ten total sessions)
For any student who has ever done Level 1 (or Beginner) level with any program on violin, viola, cello, or bass. This class will review the basics of the Level 1 class so you are prepared to join a Level 2 class in the fall. You'll also learn how to play easy and fun orchestra songs as a whole group. Each week is a different theme! You may sign up for as many of these classes as you want. These classes are held for one hour each day for four days (Monday through Thursday) each week. Star-Spangled Banner (US national anthem) Class
July 12-15 (week 1) + performance July 18
Learn to play the US national anthem by memory. The class will perform the national anthem on the field to open the Corvallis Knights baseball game on Sunday, July 18, at 1:30pm! Transportation from Timber Ridge School to OSU Goss Stadium will be provided. Each student will receive free tickets for their family to attend! July 19-22 (week 2)
Learn to play music you hear on the radio!! Music for orchestra instruments doesn't need to be only OLD music! Explore contemporary music on your instrument and play along with songs you know. Instructor: Julie Ritchey
July 26-29 (week 3)
For cellos only! Join Mr. Andrew in playing all-cello music. Glory in all that deep C-string sound! There will be easy to hard parts available for each song so as many people can play as possible. Instructor: Isaac Andrew
August 2-5 (week 4)
Fiddle music has been around for hundreds of years. Learn a few tunes and you can play in jams with many other instruments. You'll learn fiddle tunes by ear (music available if you want it). Be prepared for high energy and loads of fun playing some great old fiddle tunes. Easy and harder parts will also be available. For all instruments (not just fiddles!) Instructor: Amy Burrow
August 9-12 (week 5)
Coco, Moana, Frozen 2.... what will it be? Come join Mr. Andrew and Denver and learn songs from today's Disney movies! Definitely not your parent's or grandparent's Disney music!! You need to have completed Level 1 to join this class. For all instruments. Instructors: Isaac Andrew & Denver Speelman
Mondays and Wednesdays 9:00-9:55
July 12 to August 11 (ten total sessions)
For students who have completed Level 2 or above. This will be a multi-level class, where everyone works together on the same pieces but there are parts of different levels of difficulty for each instrument. Your teacher will work with you to decide which part will work best for you to have fun and be challenged. You do not need to be in an orchestra already and there is no audition to join. For any student who would like to work with a teacher in a quiet, one-on-one setting. These 15-minute short meetings can be an opportunity to work on a skill, learn a song, or get coaching for that orchestra audition. Times are available from 8:00-8:45 each morning and from 12:00-1:00 each afternoon. Sign up in advance to guarantee your spot (one per day, please) or drop in to see if spots are available the same day.
